HARDWARE BUT I SUPPOSE ANY BUILDER COULD HAVE USED.  1X3/8 AND 1X3/8 GUNNEL BOARD TOO. IS THERE ANY STAMPING IN THE LEAD? I FOUND THE WATERLINE CUT AROUND THE HULL BUT CANT MAKE IT OUT WELL IN THE BOW. I WILL DIG THROUGH THE BAGS OF SAILS AND FIND SOME MORE CLUES. B

What did John say ... was he able to provide any new information?  Prior to about 1936, HMC generally manufactured their own hardware.  In many cases, the underside of a bronze fitting would be stamped with "HMC" and the casting pattern number.  The Merriman hardware would probably be replacements if the boat was built by HMC.  I don't know if the lead was stamped, but I wouldn't be surprised.

If the lead has a manufacturer's stamp, it would certainly tell a lot.  But who knows if there is a stamp or not?  That being said, you are going to need to drop the lead anyway to replace that keel plank and keel bolts.  That's no trivial task.
