Can someone I.D. this please?
« on: February 19, 2009, 06:32:06 PM »
I have had this picture for as long as I can remember, but I am not sure of the identity of this boat. Maybe someone here knows? An interesting picture, at least. The photo itself is only about 3" x 2" so resolution of the scan leaves a little to be desired. Thanks, Nat

That is the 135ft LOA schooner Elena #706s being launched at Herreshoff's on April 24, 1911.

HH, thank you for the rapid reply. I have made a label for the back of my little photo. Many thanks, Nat

Not really, Adam. I'm not sure where it came from, more than likely from an antique shop in Bristol. I remember it being around since I was little. On the back of the photo its marked $2. I found an interesting postcard in a book the other day that I will scan tomorrow. I am glad to see someone went through the trouble to create this board. Places like this really bridge gaps, and everybody benefits !
