I guess that one has already sold since it's no longer listed at Yachy World.

An unexpected family situation forces me to put the Harbor Pilot I purchased in October up for sale.  It's not as nice as the $8000 one we've been looking at photos of but it comes with a trailer and other goodies.

For Sale - 1974 Herreshoff Harbor Pilot - located in Hartsville, SC

Photos: http://www.etagloh.phanfare.com/5356432

This an 18 foot fiberglass motor vessel with a Westerbeke diesel and a small cabin.  The boat is based on the Halsey Herreshoff “America" hull from which  at least 6 different boats were built  - the "America" Catboat, the "Eagle" sloop, the cat ketch "Scout", the "Launch", the "Bay Fisherman" and the small tug/pilot boat "Harbor Pilot"

Length is18.2 ft , Beam 8 ft , Draft 1' 10'' , Weight 2200 lbs

The boat has a 1974 Westerbeke  25 Hp,  4 cyl., fresh water cooled diesel with approximately 1700 hrs.  It has a 2:1 reduction and an 18 gal. steel fuel tank.

It does 8 knots cruise and 12 knots max. and burns 0.5 g/p/h at cruise.

The boat, which has  a full keel for stability and prop/rudder protection for shallow water cruising, is also well suited for offshore cruising and/or fishing. It comes with a bimini top for comfort in either situation.

Constructed by skilled craftsmen at the renowned Nowak & Williams yard in Bristol, Rhode Island, it has a mast and boom, stabilizing sail, bronze hardware and a wooden “swim platform.”  There is also an auxiliary motor mount and lift installed on the transom.

The boat was last in the water in the fall of 2011 when it was removed for the season and winterized.

The boat comes with a single axle trailer with new forward, center and rear keel rollers, new tires, new wheel bearings and seals, new lights and wiring, a new jackstand, and a new Warn 3700 electric winch with wireless remote.

The boat was recently towed from Connecticut to South Carolina without difficulty.  The driver said it “towed like a dream.”

Boat and trailer - $8000
Six HP rebuilt two stroke, long shaft, Johnson/Evenrude outboard auxiliary motor on “roller stand” - $500
Engine spares:
   4 New Glow plugs - $50
   New Lift pump - $50
Rebuilt fuel injector pump - $500
New 6 gang electric rocker panel and 3 new Westerbeke gauges - $150
Used sea water pump with 3 new impellers - - $100
Entire package - $9000

WaterJack - Sorry to heard that you have to sell your Herreshoff Harbor Pilot.  Your price of $ 9,000.00 is a very fair price , considering that my Pilot is selling for $18,995.00.

She should go quick at that Price , Good Luck with your sale.

Actually the boat and trailer are only $8000.  The other goodies push it up to $9000.

But I hope I'm able to see it go to a good home fairly quickly.  I really love the little boat.

My friend Tom called today, he owns a 1974 Herreshoff Harbor Pilot > Hull # ? , Green Hull with Cat Rudder in Melbourne, Fla.   He purchased this Pilot with a Chrysler marine gas engine 80 hp that was seized, so he replaced it with a Westerbeke 30 hp diesel. He also customized the Pilots Windows by adding “Hinges “ with window hardware to allow the four Herreshoff Harbor Pilot Windows to open......... YES > I asked for pictures !!!!!!!

Joe - I do not believe that one above is a Harbor pilot - unless that hull was highly modified - which I doubt.

Adam - Agreed , its definitely not a Herreshoff Harbor Pilot , but its a Pilot House small tug , wondering if anyone knows the builder of this boat ,built in MA.  On another note , does anyone know what the metal object is in front of that pilot house mystery tug boat , could it be a water pump for a fire hose or is it a Anchor Winch ? (foto below ).
