This is a simple and elegant design by Frances L. Herreshoff that was built to a professional standard. The design was conceived on the Sharpie model for shoal water cruising on the east coast of the United States, particularly in the waters of Chesapeake Bay.
The vessel is heavily constructed for her size in order for her to be safely beached. Also, instead of a deep keel, the vessel has two eight foot leeboards. The steel keel and sawn frame construction add to the vessels stiffness.
SV Wimbrel is offered by the Cowichan Wooden Boat Society,
