WIANNO SENIOR #72 For Sale
The 19th oldest Senior still left in existence. Built in 1928, Originally named "Alva II", she later became "Mischief", a name she held for most of her life. "Mischief" was raced for about 30 years out of Hyannis Port, MA when owned by the Horne family, Joseph Horne and is son Joseph Jr. The Horne''s raced "Mischief" alongside many Wianno Sr. Class Legends, including John F. Kennedy, Ross Richards, Benjamin Baxter, and Stan Moore to name a few. "Mischief" was later sold to Richard Brand and Gordon Kraft, who continued to race her from Hyannis Port. They raced her for another 15 years, before selling her to a fellow in New York. Form there "Mischief" languished waiting for a restoration for many years, before being sold, and a restoration was begun. When she was first discovered a few years ago, the survey revealed she was in very good original condition, with almost no sister frames, nonetheless, she required a complete restoration. The restoration had begun a few years ago, and the hardest parts have been completed, a new centerboard box and keel were installed, giving the hull a new lease on life before the new owner lost interest. She is currently under cover, and is looked for someone to finish off her restoration and enjoy sailing her once again. Asking $1,500, and we will quote you to finish her restoration.
