Caribbean 50, Herreshoff Center Cockpit Ketch
« on: January 08, 2013, 04:09:23 PM »
We’re buying a 1978 Herreshoff Center Cockpit Ketch (w/ centerboard), also called a Caribbean 50.  From what I’ve gathered it was built by David Cheng, and about 10 were made.  I am looking for any additional information you may have on the boat.

Does anybody have any additional information on the boat?  Or point me in the right direction?

My search so far:
Contacted herreshoff.org and was told it was L. Francis, and to contact Mystic Seaport
Mystic Seaport said it was a Halsey design, and to contact herreshoffdesigns.
Haven't heard back from Herreshoffdesigns yet.

Thanks for the followup.

No its a Halsey design - though wouldn't be surprised if his Father Sidney had a hand in it as well. If you can't get Halsey - ask for Adam Langerman when you speak with Herreshoff Designs.
