Herreshoff Anchor for sale
« on: October 11, 2013, 04:59:25 PM »
I spoke to this guy a while back and it seems to be the real deal. He's selling off a bunch of items from when his Father (George Breed) owned Thistle...Not sure many folks need a 100+ lb (I think its bigger)Herreshoff anchor but here it is...

Adam...what a pearl!  When did we meet?  You are doing a great deed...and I want to thank you: I got cancer...and insurance is overseas and does not cover here...so now...it's really critical to sell Sir's things. (My dad's nickname...funny he was!)  So, this is my first time on a forum..and I would LOVE to have your help again...the listing on ebay is awsome now..a real provinance collection including Max Esper, Marion Warren and other luminaries who photographed aboard during the race commemorating the 100th aniversary of The Cup..included are Sir's race instructions...typed!  Including a crew list..of, well Don Trumpy was aboard.  Also..Herreshoffs original draft drawings...before Thistle was built.  ..a huge block my dad and John Trumpy customized...and on & on...

You had 81 views..so if you will help again..I'll be more than grateful..and Hope to see you soon!

Hi Charles - We never met directly but we had some correspondence about your anchor and your family's boat (Thistle) when you first put up your anchor for sale (a year ago - more maybe). When we find "real" herreshoff  items for sale we'll usually post them here. Many members here are doing full restorations so 'parts' can be important finds.

Maybe you can tell us a bit more about your anchor and Thistle? That sort of documentation is VERY important to us.
