I am not sure if my first posting succeeded in the posting.  I will repeat my message in the hope that it will be read by the people interested in knowing the whereabouts of the capstan from the Shawara, which sank off the coast of New Jersey in 1933.  My husband, John,  is the son of Edmund and Mary Parsons, and the Capstan in now in our house as the base of a beautiful lamp.  The lampshade, which was painted by my husband's sister Ginny, depicts the rescue of the people onboard the Shawara.   I would like to post pictures of the lamp and shade if I can figure out how to do so.

Here is the link to the pictures of the lamp made from the Capstan-Windlass which came from the NY40 sloop Shawara, which sank as it was being towed by the tanker, "Yorba Linda" on July 5, 1933.  The hand painted lampshade depicts the event and the location off the coast of New Jersey.

Wonderful! Thank you so very much for posting these images (which have been duly saved)!

It had been my impression the rescue took place on July 3, 1933?
