Amphibicraft? and others....
« on: December 02, 2008, 09:17:37 PM »
Looks like one of Mr. Sids....Amphibicraft? Steve know anything about this one - Guy seems to have wanted to donate it to the HMM?

Also... I noticed this a while ago thought maybe a typo? The Wooden Boat rescue Foundation had a 12 1/2 # 1498 that was in really bad shape and listed as built 1930 - But the reg has 1498 as built 1941 and already restored...

Just a Typo on their part with the date and it's really the same boat?

Adam:  I can't recognize an Amphicraft by looking at it.  I know HMM owns 1276, PRIM and Mystic Seaport also has one.  It may be that the donation talks broke down because the Museum already had one?  As I recall, John Palmieri found another one earlier in the year, but we never were able to finalize the information.  If he happens upon this thread he may be able to chime in.

Well, it's like this:  1498 was picked up from the Wooden Boat Rescue Foundation by Erick Singleman, who had the intention of restoring it.  When I put the entry in the registry, I put Erick's name in the "Restored By" field, obviously prematurely.  I'll need to correct that.  In any case, Erick has decided to sell it rather than restore it.  In fact, he posted something in the Boats For Sale section of this forum.  It is also listed on the H12's For Sale page.

Ah yep see it now... Should have noticed that. Curious, its noted that the WBRF contract has a disclaimer:

"If the restoration does not go to completion this boat will be given back to the WBRF and no other individuals by contract".

He picked the boat up a few years ago ... I wonder if that proviso was in the contract then ??

Of course I don't have the "contract", but if you look at the first Link I posted it appears to be on the original "ad" before it was sold.
