Title: Herreshoff 15 on WoodenBoat forum
Post by: b.beardsley on February 02, 2009, 04:18:51 AM
Several years ago someone posted something on the WB Forum about a project 15 he had, He was in Bristol and apparently the boat was pretty bad. I e-mailed the address given in the Forum, but heard nothing. Does anybody know anything about this?

Bill:  I hadn't heard that before.  I'll scour the WB Forum and see if I can dig anything up.

Thanks, Steve. It doesn't fit in with any one I know of, although Alert (WH)
was in Bristol for a while. Dave Pugh owned her after that and he acquired her
quite a long time ago. I belive Will Cummer has her now,

Bill:  I thought George Zachorne owned ALERT?  I don't know Will Cummer.  Do you know where the boat is?  Is she still in bad shape?

I talked to Will one time. He and George are kind of partners, and they'd like, of course, to sell the boat and it's restoration, ideally to someone around Watch Hill. George also has Scoot over there, a wonderful boat for restoration, because it hasn't been altered much. I always say that the real enemy of old boats isn't the weather as much as it is half-assed carpentry.

I wonder if the 15 you guy's are talking in Bristol is EMMA - She was restored there a few years back....Although apparently resides in Newport....

Not sure if EMMA was what Bill was thinking about.  Seth at EPBWs did canvas work on EMMA in 2007, but MPG did the restoration several years earlier.  There is a nice photo of her in the Registry.

In searching WBF, the other boat I found was ELF, which was mine, and was in Vineyard Haven rather than Bristol.

Bill ... you ever figure this one out?
