Title: H-12 Spar Carrier

I'm looking for some well-designed spar carrying devices for trailering my 12 1/2.  It seems that the front should mount through the hinged mast partner and something on the after-deck.

Any idea?  Pictures?

The Triad trailer I had for my 12 had a mast carrier at the front of the trailer.  I never used it, though, because it was easier to use the bed of my truck.  I'm not sure what Triad intended for the back end of the mast ... some time of device rigged into the mast step sounds like a good idea.

Well if you Google Mast Carrier Trailer - you'll get a few commercial ones - as well as a lot of the Forums (Like Trailer Sailor) that discuss such things ad nauseum...Here are a few of the commercial ones (semi custom) - most seem to attach the rear bracket to the transom (pintals) but I don't see why they couldn't modify it to fit the boom crutch...The front almost universally attaches to the forward trailer tongue. Of course the 12 rig can't be that big (long) and youve got a Jeep Cherokee - a couple of foam blocks and a few tie-downs and that may work on the roof rack...Just say'n....

It would be fun to trailer to the next Rendezvous... you know IF I could find some qualified crew...

Jon - saw a neat contraption a few weeks ago - weekend of the "Head of the Charles". Bolt on roof rack brackets made to support rowing sculls/shells. They are sort of narroe "V" shaped pads on brackets that extend foward and rear of a cars roof rack - so that support to a hull (or in your case, spars) is nearly as long as the car itself. Interesting design - simple. Commercially made (although one could make these up preaty simply if you ask me) - here are some examples -

Thanks Adam.  I've gone ahead and designed my own, with a stand that fits into the mast-step and through the bracket, and then another that will sit on the after-deck with a hole for the tiller and placed just after the main-sheet cam cleat. 

As the mast, boom, gaff, club, spinnaker pole, oars, and mast hoops are already varnished, for next season I have to take good care of them.  I do have to take down and refinish the transom though...
