OK, a few weeks back on EBay (where else) an original Herreshoff catalog came up for sale. At first I thought it was one of those 1937 ones but this one was different - all black, hand typed, and with original tipped in photographs (most of which have come loose but are all there and in the original spots). I bought it. It turns out its a parts and accessories catalog titled "Herreshoff Yacht Fittings and Accessories" and "Released January 1937". I get the sense that this was something kept in the parts shop and used with walk-in clients and not mailed or given out.

Well it has some very interesting bits of info.....and before anyone asks - NO it does not tell you the sizes available for the Herreshoff anchors (the only @#$%*&^% part in the catalog that DOES NOT give the sizes. - just ranges - 5 - 1250lbs...!). Has all the tenders available - including a nice shot of a 13' Lifeboat that looks just like the one Adam showed us a few weeks back - cost 350.00......

Also Herreshoff had a "Model Department" and would sell Half models (not that surprising) and in different configurations (full rigs and sails), but also full models as well, and offered to make "towing models" (I assume for tank testing) for other Naval Arch to non Herreshoff designs...

Even more interesting was stuck in the back was another catalog - Just a 4 page flyer that was titled "Presenting the Herreshoff One Design Squadron". It is printed in the same style as the 1937 “Yachts by Herreshoff “ catalog. It has the preverbal S-Class, 12 1/2 (Bulls-eye), Silver Heels, Fish Class, Marlin and FI 23. BUT, it also has drawings of three other classes I don't think were built - the “Lake George” class (which we discussed in another thread), the "Narragansett Sloop" class (looks like a large FI 23), and the "Bristol Class" (looks like a small Burgess Atlantic class to my eye...).

Anyone ever seen these docs? If anyone has any specific items they would like me to photograph let me know….

I particularly like the Narraganset Sloop.

What different size prams are advertised?

Post by: Adam on October 21, 2011, 03:05:13 PM: I believe 1 pram photo (with sizes listed) and 3 Dingy photo's (with sizes - largest is a 14 "outboard capable" model). Don't have it in front of me - so I will validate tonight when home.
