Herreshoff 12 1/2 project boat hull. One of the last 51 of the type built. HMCo. contracted this run of boats to the Quincy yard. Also known as the Long Island Sound (LIS) version of the H12. Differences include a back rabbet on the wood keel, over transom rudder, wider decks, and rear deck at sheer level. No builder's plate - hence the bargain price.
I hate to give up this boat as it will be a wonderful project for whomever takes her on. However, we're committed to a larger build and wish to see this boat get worked on, not sidelined because we're thinking of other things. You could spend as little or as much as you'd like on this boat depending on whether you want to make her merely functional or commit to a bristol restoration. Work that definitely needs to be done: reframe, replace upper half of stem, recaulk, repaint. Planking is mahogany (except for one garboard replaced by previous owner) and is good except for two strakes which should be replaced. Previous owner also replaced the transom. No rig.
Includes the cradle shown in the pics. It is fitted with 3/8" thick steel brackets, to which are welded casters, so you can easily push her up onto a trailer and maneuver the whole shebang around in your garage/shop.
Trailer in pics is NOT offered for sale.
Feel free to email for larger pics or to ask questions. Available for viewing with notice and during normal business hours at a very well known shop on Beach St. (I'm just a storage customer, they have no interest/connection to this listing).
Offers considered - we would really like this boat to go to a loving home.
