Title: Herreshoff America Catboat 18 ft
Post by: HMA22410 on July 02, 2015, 01:16:35 PM
I'm looking for a set of Herreshoff America Catboat line drawings to do stability and coefficient of form calculations.  Does anyone know where I can get these?  I've tried the Herreshoff Museum, MIT and Mystic Conn.  I have even tried the Library of Congress.

You might want to speak to the designer - Herreshoff Designs - http://www.herreshoffdesigns.com

The America was not designed / built during the Herreshoff Manufacuring Company years - rather it was designed by Halsey and his father Sidney for a local builder in the 1970s. We've been told that she was based on an earlier racing cat design from Nat Herreshoff - but never substantiated. I could be wrong but I would doubt MIT or Mystic would have anything on a modern design like this. Sidney did carve the initial design and that original hull builders model is in the Herreshoff Museum. Like I said above calling Herreshoff designs is probably your best course of action.
