Title: Looking for data on USONA
Post by: Pat on November 08, 2015, 01:02:19 PM
Hello Steve, Adam, old friends I am looking for data about USONA a Godinet 3 tonneaux designed by our great Nathanael Greene Herreshoff and built in USA.
USONA means United States in Esperanto an old european language.
She sailed on Leman Lake in 1906 she looks like CALYPSO the boat on the picture below.

Thank you in advance.
Kind regards

Hi Pat - USONA was designed by Charles F. Herreshoff (not Capt. Nat).

From Forest and Stream April 1906:

"Yacht Usona Tried Out - The 24ft waterline sloop designed by Mr Charles F Herreshoff 2d for a German yachtsman was launched at Lawley's last Tuesday and was tried out by her designer Wednesday She was designed for light weather and felt the weight of the strong breeze considerably She will be sent to Germany by steamer"
