1976 Squadron Yachts 18' Launch
Herreshoff Pilot Launch ...... Item Location: Salem, Massachusetts, United States .....This is possibly hull number one of the herreshoff Pilot's built by Squadron Yachts in the 70's. For a classic plastic collector or rebuilder this may be worth a look at. Boat is in as is condition. Extensive fire damage to the starboard stern quarter.  The boat is repairable. The boat can be bought w/out the engine.

Sighting ...... I'm in Southwest Harbor Maine (near Bar Harbor ) when I spotted a Herreshoff Bay Fisherman - Red Hull with Biege Dodger Cruising along the Harbor heading to one of three outter islands ( Cranberry, Little Cranberry and Islesford ).... and I didn"t have my camera with me .  But i do have a similar foto of a red hull Herreshoff Harbor Launch with a bow dodger ! Which i will post up tomorrow!

Remember the only differance between a Bay Fisherman model VS Harbor Launch model is the position of the Helm.... and the Bow Dodger was standard on the Bay Fisherman Model and optional on the Harbor  Lanuch Model.......

I have a Theory on the Herreshoff Pilot Models > Harbor ,Bay Fisherman and Launch series Pilots , the Hull #'s are in Sequence! Hull ID #'s on all three Pilots Models all have a Bronze Plate stating Herreshoff Pilot has shown below :

In looking at the eBay Auction  Herreshoff Bay Fisherman its hull # is 79 in 1976 and looking at the hull # of the Herreshoff Harbor Launch with the opitional bow dodger which is Hull # 89 in 1977 and my Herreshoff Harbor Pilot Hull # 63 in 1974 ...... Well there is just No way that there could be 79 Bay Fisherman models or 89 of the Harbor Launch boats produced ......!!!!!!

Back in 2009 , i raised a similar question , stated below ....

Someone on CBA stated - there are 150 Herreshoff America ?

I wonder if the Hull # on these Herreshoff Hulls are the # of hulls produced for all six models or are they individual hull #'s for each model ?

In 1985 Nauset Marine ..... Located in Hyannis MA ..... Started to produce the Herreshoff Harbor Pilot Model after purchasing the Original Molds of the Herreshoff Pilot .....    Nauset Marine modified the Hull Mold to have " No Cat Rudder " ( Most of the early Herreshoff Harbor Pilots have a Cat Like Rudder )

So , the question is did Nauset Marine start a New Hull # series or leave off with the early Hull #'s from Squadron Yachts ?

I found the Herreshoff Pilot ( Bay Fisherman Model ) that i spoted the other day , it is on a mooring ball off of Sutton Island! Which is one of 5 small Islands off of Southwest , Northeast and Bar Harbor , Maine.....Pictures to follow:
