I have been quite curious to the fact that Sidney appears to have carved the model of the "Herreshoff America" hull and not Halsey - As I have never heard Sidney mentioned in regards to her design. In reading a paper on the NYYC model room there is another curious statement:

"After the turn of the century Sidney
Herreshoff carved most of the models and then later, the models are
attributed as Herreshoff Mfg. Co. In all there are over 50 builders
models by various members of the Herreshoff family in the club's
collection with approximately 80 yachts listed in the club's records. All
of the models by Herreshoff are half models as these were the primary
design tool for a builder at this time."

So am I to infer from this that "most" of the models after the turn of the century of herreshoff Designs came from Sidneys hands an not Nat's? Was this only for "presentation" models, with the builders model still being by Nats hands?

This is a great question.  My guess is that the article speaks of the models that are in the possession of the NYYC, not the same ones the HMCo used to draw lines.  Hopefully someone can shed some light on this question.

The article most certainly can only refer to the models in the collection of the NYYC and even there I am somewhat doubtful.

As to the collection of the Herreshoff Marine Museum, looking at the 210 models made between 1900 and NG Herreshoff's death in 1938, I find that 149 were certainly made by NGH and another 24 probably by him. This compares to 20 models that were certainly made by A. S. deW. Herreshoff in that time frame plus another 14 that were probably made by him, or made by him or NGH.
