Current Status of These ?
« on: April 09, 2009, 03:36:13 PM »
Over the past few years, several HMCo boats have appeared and disappeared from the online 'for sale' listings.  Does anyone know the current status of these ... owner, name, whereabouts, etc. ?

Banzai                New York 30       Vineyard Haven
Duckling             12-1/2               Marblehead
Gamecock           R-Boat              Rockport, ME
Pauline               NY 40                Mystic, CT
Wizard of Bristol   NY40                 Hawaii

Wasn't Gamecock - the R - the one Dave Peterson restored while also doing those two S-Boats for Tom Duce? If I remember things correctly, Tom said the R was sold to someone in Maine - and has been sailing up there....

From the NY 30's (2005):

NY-1 -- Alera Recently discovered and being restored in Maine (Dec. 2004) Plans to attend in ‘05.
NY-2 -- Ibis Mike McCaffrey. Naragansett Shipwrights-- Needs complete resto. / for sale
NY-7 -- Helen Lee Park. Needs spar work, boat can possibly attend from Wickford RI
NY-8 -- Carlita Sam Birger. Taylor and Snydecker - Needs complete resto. / boat for sale
NY-9 -- Amorita Jed Pearsall. NYYC member. Restored / sailing, will attend all events.
NY-10 - Linnett P. Bertelli. In Europe, Restored / sailing. Contact has been made, awaiting word
NY-11- Oriole Bill Cannell is contact. Should be restored / sailing in time. Plans to attend.
NY-12 - Neola In Long Island. Rough shape but can possibly sail? Might attend/
NY-14 - Cara-Mia Alfred Slanetz. Restored / sailing. will attend all events.
NY-15 - Banzai Carlo D’Antonio. Restored / sailing. In MV. Hopefully will attend
NY-16 - Nautilus Bill Pedersen. Restored / sailing. LI Sound. For sale. Plans to attend.
NY-18 - Anenome Herreshoff Marine Museum. Needs to complete resto.

Yes, it was.  It was on Yacht World a couple of years ago.  Located in Rockport, ME and for sale at $125K.  I am trying to find out who now has her, where, etc.

Wizard of Bristol- NY40 is on the hard at the Phoenician boat yard, Barbor's Point, Oahu, Hawaii. She has been slowly undergoing restoration for several years.

Wow .. thanks Dustin.  I have been searching for awhile.  I spoke to a guy who crewed on her years ago.  Do you know who the current owner is ?

To my understanding, it is a syndicate thing. The owner cant afford/ doesn't want to pony up the cash for her restoration; so, he has given part ownership to a local shipwright named Eric who is restoring her in his spare time in exchange for a portion of profits when she is sold. Some of this is, of course hearsay; but,I do know that Eric is by far the most knowledgeable shipwright on the island, so she is in good hands.
