I talked to a new Herreshoff Harbor Pilot owner in Cape May , NJ - boat was purchase from City Island , NY . It is not the one that i looked at few years ago ( White Hull ) I believe it went to Booth Harbor ,Maine. This Pilot has a Red hull and is Hull #5 - 1974 .

I bought it from Sonny Brewer from Fairhope, Alabama in 2005. He had posted it on Ebay..but nobody bid. I saw it up there, and after the auction ended...could not stop thinking about it so I contacted him and made an offer.  He had found it a year earlier in Cold Spring Harbor, NY. Listed by Ted of Long Island Marine on behalf of Hewitt Lindsay. Beyond that is speculation, but heard tale of it being a Yacht Club Race Comittee boat at one time. The folks at Long Island Marine almost bought it themselves to use as a tow boat. Heard it was the Yacht Club that changed out engine to give it more power.

It is a 1978, Made by Squadron Yachts in Bristol Rhode Island with bronze builders plate and all. Both I and the former owner believe it to be a custom factory job not listed in standard models brochures. You will too once you see the workmanship in the details. The only obvious remuddle was the replacement of the diesel with a 120hp merc. w reduction. The Hydrolic dual helms look original.

Herreshoff Harbor Pilot - that SOLD !
Joe,

Thanks for touching base. I see one for sale up on Lake Michigan for 18K - a bit pricey for me, but they say it is "mint". This sounds like a good boat for me. Are you the big Kahuna  up there at Cardinal?

Joe,

The Pilot I purchased does not appear to have scuppers. Is that normal? It appears the deck is
above the waterline. Just wondering.

Herk in Cape May
