Could this Herreshoff Harbor Pilot be one of the mention boats above in Marble Head , Ma.  Does anyone recognized this pilot name "USEFUL" or the back ground area ?

From the foto above ....Its a W-30!

Reply-Jack Holgate jholgate@bellsouth.net to me.....
It's good to know, especially since I just down-loaded and printed the W-30 Manual and Parts List.  But why does the tag on the motor still read "Four-91"?

It started out as a four-91 , but was converted to a W-30 for the British Taxi's

In looking at the foto above, your air cleaner filter is metal , the original filter was a fram paper filter that is no longer produced ..... I searched for months for a replacement filter and couldn't find one , so, I was force to purchase the new metal Westerbeke air filter for $429.00 ..... So, Jack what is the brand name & model # of that metal air filter on your W-30 , so furture owner of a W-30 diesel motor will know and not be sucker into buying that $429.00 from Westerbeke .....

I looked my air filter over closely and could not find a part number.  However in one of the Westerbeke service bulletins that gave instructions for venting the silencer gases to the intake (http://www.westerbeke.com/mdtools/service_bulletins/sb_102.pdf) it listed the air filter as part number 16010.  So it appears that a replacement filter might be readily available at such sites as this one.

Joe,
Wow.  What a great looking motor,  I'm certainly envious.

My hour meter reads 1984 hours, but I don't know how accurate that is or if it's even working.  The motor doesn't look too bad.  Initially I'm going to pay the most attention to the "bolt ons" and not worry to much about the guts of the motor.  I've heard stories of them running quite well for many more than the 2,000 hours mine seems to have.

By the way I hope no one tries to hold you to the $2150 price you have listed for your totally restored Pilot in your South Jersey Craig's List ad.  :)

"Useful" is the Herreshoff Marine Museum's Pilot and launch. The Burgee she's flying is the Herreshoff Burgee (Specifically HGH's I believe). That is Bristol Harbor.

Adam - thank's - she is a good looking Pilot , i believe the Green Hull Pilot's are the rarest !

Also - it looks like it has a cat rudder from the foto , which makes it a 1974 - Do you know the " HULL " # ? ...... and which of the two builders for that year , built that Pilot ......

Just had accepted bid for Sky King.  I have been more of a cat boat sailor but now have a pilot boat.  Could I contact you from time to time with questions.  I won't over do it.
