The Marina was built in the Great Egg Inlet ..... The original bulk head sea wall collapsed 2 X when the marina was first built in 1978 , so the Army Corp of Eng, was called in ,too save the # 3 new bulk head sea wall ..... the Corp. had the concrete from the Old Oceanfront Atlantic City Hotels that were tore down/demolished for the AC Casinos , dumped in front of the bulk head sea wall ,creating two sea walls and it worked !
The Ocean City / Longport Bridge is in the back ground.

My friend Tom called today, he owns a 1974 Herreshoff Harbor Pilot > Hull # ? , Green Hull with Cat Rudder in Melbourne, Fla.   He purchased this Pilot with a Chrysler marine gas engine 80 hp that was seized, so he replaced it with a Westerbeke 30 hp diesel.  He also customized the Pilots Windows by adding “Hinges “ with window hardware to allow the four Herreshoff Harbor Pilot Windows to open......... YES > I asked for pictures !!!!!!!

I spent a night at the fuel dock there on the way south last fall.  Don't remember the name of the attendant, but he made a good restaurant recommendation...

I was wondering if Pilot owners on this forum with Westerbeke motors in their boats are using heavy duty/extended life anti-freeze in their engines. If so what brand.

On newer Diesel engine i use either Fleet Guard by Cummins or CAT Extend Life by Caterpillar ......  Gas Engines - i use Shell Extended Life .....  It should be an Orange Color Anti-freeze.....

But, my Westerbeke 30 hp i use ONLY the GREEN Color " Prestone Anti-freeze/Coolant " because of its age !

Adam > your right , being semi-retired I'm slowing down ...... I'm going to post up these photo's before the boat listing comes down ....... Thanks Cardinal Joe

1981 Squadron Yacht - Herreshoff Harbor Pilot with " OPEN " Cabin .....
Rarely do these desirable little Herreshoff Harbor Pilots ever hit the market. This boat is in good shape and is powered by a 2 cylinder Yanmar diesel engine, she is equipped with a Triad highway trailer. To our knowledge, she is the only Herreshoff Pilot that has been in freshwater her entire life. A real character boat, she is a delightful bay, lakes and river cruiser.

to me

Hi Joe;

Thanks for your e mail.

I believe the open cabin was done at the factory, it's a nice configuration.. I believe she is hull number 118 or 18

I need to find her a good home if you know of anyone.

On another subject how many Herreshoff 37' meadow larks and 55' Marco -polo's are in the US ?, and location & owners ?

Thanks

Eric

Quoted >I believe she is hull number 118 or 18……… Humm……. I’m troubled over the hull# 118 0r 18 ……. My Squadron Yacht Herreshoff Harbor Pilot is a 1974 > hull# 63 , and this is a 1981 Squadron Yacht Herreshoff Harbor Pilot without the Cat Rudder, so it possibility Hull # 118 ???? , but then Nauset Marine built Sky King which is a 1985 Herreshoff Harbor Pilot Hull #115 …..

Which leads back to a previous question I posted a while back > what was  Nowak & Williams yard in Bristol, Rhode Island last Pilot Hull #? And where did Squadron Yachts in Bristol, RI start where first pilot Hull #?   And Nauset Marine in Orleans, MA started either at hull # 101 or 115 ?

I think my Pilot may have been started by Nowak & Williams Yard and finished by Squadron Yachts, > Reason, I have both Bronze Metal plates from both Builders on my 1974 Pilot hull# 63 and we now know that only 1974 built pilots had the Cat Rudder, in 1975 they where built without the Cat Rudder and replaced with the standard under hull prop protected keel/rudder connection. But my Squadron Yacht  title states it a 1975 model year , so could my Hull # 63 be the switch over boat , from Nowak & Williams to Squadron Yachts , so, far I have not come across a duplicate hull # between Nowak & Williams and Squadron Yachts in my data base of Herreshoff Harbor Pilots …..

Thanks , for the quick response to my questions on the Herreshoff Harbor Pilot !  I'm looking into your quesions on the Herreshoff 37' meadow larks and 55' Marco -polo's ?  I have another couple of questions on the 1981 Herreshoff Harbor Pilot > what is the VIN# on the hull or title ?  I'm having a problem with the Hull # 118 or 18 has the correct hull # of this boat , and do you know the original Color of its Hull > White ,Red or Green ?   Thanks Again , Cardinal Joe
