Joe - Thanks for the e-mail.  Glad to hear your restoration job went well.
We actually have no knowledge of the history of the boat.  If you have a
picture we would be interested in seeing it, or if it is still in the area we will

I accidentally found out the previous owners of my Herreshoff Harbor Pilot > today.

I ran into the owner of that small boat yard in Egg Harbor Township, NJ (Bart Dickerson Marine > were I discovered the white hull Herreshoff Scout with No rudder or mast – turn out it belongs to a race horse jockey who purchased it new back in the early 70’s and still owns it today (rudder has rotted away, need new rudder, owner has the mast & old sails..

Anyway back to Bart Dickerson…. when I was asking questions about the old Herreshoff Scout in his yard, I also mention that I own a Herreshoff Harbor Pilot. Bart asked if it was a red hull pilot named “Little Toot “back in the day. I remember sanding the transom to prepare the hull for a new Gelcoat hull, and I could see the name “Little Toot" on the hull. 

Turns out my Herreshoff Harbor Pilot was purchased new back in 1974/1975 by a gentleman named Mr. Nidinger of Ocean City, NJ 08226 who had it docked behind his bay view home 7 St. Bay Ave in OC, NJ – he is deceased. But he sold my Pilot back in the late 70’s to Halliday-Leonard Construction/Builders Inc. who build Custom Single Water Front Homes in Ocean City, NJ….. Little Toot was used has a “Work Boat” for Bulk Head / Piling / Dock construction and Bart Dickerson operated Little Toot for years working for the Halliday family – it was docked on Bay Ave behind Mr. Holden Hummel’s house > who I personally know from the Marina Business and have Winter Stored his 50 ft Hattheras up on land at Cardinal over the last 15 years.  I’m checking to see if John & Margie Showell were the third owners or the fourth of my Herreshoff Harbor Pilot …….. WOW !!!!!!!!!!

Had a Capt. from Fla. call today about, turning my Herreshoff Harbor Pilot into a “Water Taxi Service / Cruising Tours Business!!!!!!  So, I’m going to post up some previous photos of other Herreshoff 18 boats ….

I'm looking to Barter my Herreshoff Harbor Pilot for a "Loaded" Black 2006 SLK 55 with a retractable roof and only 2300 original miles on her...... plus $16,000.00 cash ......  The car is worth $50 K plus ...... The owner wants my Pilot and $ 30K ......hmmmmm.....  He is thinking about my offer ...... Hell where only $14 K apart ....... But, not really , nobody  paids full retail today for a boat or car , so if the SLK 55 is worth in the low 50's full retail and my pilot full Retail was $29,995.00 ($25,000.00 invested) and now Wholesale Price is $18,995.00 , then $35,000.00 wholesale price is in the ballpark ....... I use to own a couple of Pre-Owned Car Lots back in the day ......... Both the Pilot & SLK are both to old to obtain a bank loan ...... Boats go back to 1980 and car go back only 5 years..... if your going purchase an 2006 SLK 55 you should be able to write a check for the car or you shouldn't own a SLK 55 > just my 2 cents .......

Looks like we may have a deal on my Herreshoff Harbor Pilot........ A verbal agreement over the phone was agreed upon with certain stipulations set in place pending the Sale......I will post up " Sale Pending " once I'm given a deposit on her and a Purchase Agreement is signed...... If all goes well , the Pilot will be staying in New Jersey ...... and I can visit her on occasions !
