Herreshoff Pilot

to me
Joe: Many thanks for your help yesterday. Turns out, as far as we can determine, you were right. A SS 1/2" X 2.5" long coarse-threaded bolt fit into the hole and tightened up nicely. I am a tad nervous about now pulling out both bolts in order to replace the cutlass bearing--but, maybe after a beer or two, I'll cave in. Will try to send you some pictures ASAP. Best, Woody

to me

Scott Campbell is trying to take pictures with his new i-Phone, and will e-mail them to me. I have often anchored in St. George's Thorofare, the Brigantine lagoon. In a keelboat, sometimes dicey to get into, but always worth it--I have friends who have a townhome overlooking the water. In smaller boats, I would often take the NJI south of AC. But the railroad bridge height is fixed and limits one to a mast height of 30'. Right now I am searching for a rigger in Bridgeport CT to assist in making repairs to a Kenyon mast. I am at Cap'ns Cove, run by the Williams family. Kaye Williams is a well-known boat builder, among other things. He re-did the HMS Rose some years back; she became the HMS Surprise, in the movie Master and Commander. Back to you soon re the Pilot. Sorry I have taken so long. W

Yea..... i know that anchorage well in St. George's Thorofare, the
> Brigantine lagoon. It can be a bit dicey to get into, but once in the safe harbor area its always
> worth it and plenty of water even during low tide.....The secret is to hug the sand beach on the starboard side when entering that safe harbor area off of Atlantic City Inlet..... .As far as the AC railroad bridge on the ICW heading South from AC > its operated via cameras from New York , and can see when boats are coming close for a bridge openning , if no trains are coming it will open for you , but if there is a train in the area , you can wait up to 30 mins for an openning !!!!!!!! YES >  the railroad
> bridge height is fixed and limits one to a mast height of 30'., what does " SUCK " , but my Inlet " Great Egg Inlet " is only 8 miles South up the beach and you can pick up the ICW again .... Cardinal Joe
