Scratch built L. Francis Herreshoff Design #93 Museum Model
This model is scratch built from the lines found in L. Francis Herreshoffs “Sensible Cruising Designs” book.
The hull is cold molded mahogany strip constuction.
The deck is strip planked mahogany with simulated caulking lines between each plank. This is achieved by placing a strip of plastic between the strips of mahogany. The portholes were custom machined, including all of the turnbuckles, blocks, gooseneck and rudder hardware. The sails are made of drafting vellum with individual strips glued on it. The scale is 1’’ = 1’ which makes it a fairly large model. The size with the base is 36’’ long by 12’’deep by 47’’ high.
