That "new" Schooner book....
« on: September 22, 2010, 02:37:23 AM »
....is out....."Mariette and the Herreshoff Schooners" - Just recieved a notice from Louie Howland and Richard Hawkins. Sounds like one special book. Seems a certain yachting historian member of this site had much to do with this one  8) .

If anyone is interested the two distributors are:

1. Howland and Company (howlandandco@earthlink.net
2. Columbia Trading (www.columbiatrading.com)

I'll be Down at the Cape in a few weeks so if anyone wants me to pick one up  ;)

IMHO, this is a "must have" book for anyone seriously interested in
Herreshoff yachts.

Tons of information and you'll be simply amazed when you see those
color reproductions of the original plans. They are BEAUTIFUL!

All credit is due to the book's author, Jacques Taglang (of J-Class
and America's Cup Yachts fame). I only was privileged to watch it take
shape and to comment.

Well was down at Columbia today and paged through the book. Wow. Yep not much else to say. Must have is putting it lightly.

When I suggested to the wife that it would make a nice gift for the holidays....er....well I can't print what she said after looking at the price. I'll be saving for this one in the "man cave" account....

I was in a Herreshoff Schooner mode at that point so I did pick up a copy of "Winning the Kings Cup" by Helen Bell...
