18" Herreshoff Scout
« on: February 28, 2011, 07:53:58 PM »
Hello everyone, I have had a Herreshoff Scout for the last 5 years.  Unfortunately I may have to sell it soon because I may not have anywhere to keep it.  I've searched online for information, but have never been able to find out much about the boat.  The boat is a 1974 18" Scout with original sails.  It has an older model Johnson 6hp outboard.  If I recall correctly it is hull #  005.  I have a title for it.  This forum seems to have quite a few knowledgeable people.  Does anyone know what something like this is worth.  I don't know that I'll actually be selling it, but I'd like to have an idea what it's worth.  I live in Ocean County, NJ.  The boat doesn't have a trailer so I'd probably have to sell to someone locally or someone who has a trailer or can make arrangements to have it picked up with one.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Adam

The Scout is the Halsey Herreshoff designed cat ketch. I rcomend reading through this post:

The local expert on these hulls is member Cardinal Joe - who is undergoing a restoration on his Pilot - which uses the same hull as your scout. He is also in NJ and may better know what the market for these hulls are.
