The 10' is usually the Columbia Lifeboat model although there are variations.  There is also the Joel White adaptation called the Catspaw.  There is a yard in Maine building a few last year for sale through David Jones yacht brokerage about $8,000.  I think the Apprenticeshop also has one available in June.  There was one for sale in London on a trailer, again it is a reproduction.

The Columbia lifeboat model was also displayed by a Northwest builder at the Northwest Wooden Boat Festival last September.

There is a small book from the Mystic Seaport about 1977 by Thomas Barry.  It shows the Columbia in carvel construction.

By Squadron yachts (IE Herreshoff America) I assume you mean a production fiberglass build...Never heard of one however about 4 months ago on Craig’s list a guy was trying to sell a 10' "Herreshoff" fiberglass dinghy. It looked to be in awful shape and he wanted a ridiculous amount of money. By the look of things it was a production build with a typical dinghy liner. It was light blue with white interior I think. Guy said he got it from a maritime museum in NH. Maybe this was a build by Squadron?

I have a yacht dinghy made by Squadron Yachts in May 1981.  It is fiberglass, loaded with teak trim, 10 ft length, 4 ft 5 in beam, brass oarlocks with leather collars on the oars.  It is a beautiful little sailboat that my wife bought in 1996 in Jacksonville, Fl.   This morning I did a search on the HID number and ended up at your post.  I wonder if this is the type boat that you were asking about?

Here is a picture of the boat.  The rub rail rotted away several years ago.  I am in the process of installing a rubber bumper.William Keeler
