As I recall from "Enterprise" Vanderbilt's book on the topic her edge in 1930 was the Duralumin mast, sail inventory, and program management. She, along with Whirlwind ended their careers shortly after it began, one season, then assigned to "Peacock" Alley at the Herreshoff yard only to be scrapped by '35.
With the resurgence of the J-Class, by my count there are 3 in build (Yankee is one of them) and 8 or 9 sailing, Whirlwind shows potential with her long waterline to be built, since her biggest weakness was the program management. One of these J's, I think it Cheveyo (a Ranger sister), is to be built in wood composite.
This is a far cry from the original post of sweet little Weetamoe up for sale in Mattapoisett. I like her petite cradle as well. I do see some potential water intrusion on the transom and the port quarter at the sheerstrake. Lovely nonetheless.
