I live in a rather exclusive area of Brick NJ. I have 100 feet on the water and just got reassessed. My freaking taxes went down? Sure taxes are high; but I have a 35 Bertram, a 20 foot shamrock, 17' Yankee Dory, an 18' Herreshoff Harbor Pilot, 2 kayaks, a SeaDoo XP and a paddle boat. .....

Subject: RE: Herreshoff Harbor Pilot
Thanks   Jack – do you know from your identification # on the hull … what # your pilot is ?

I do not. I'll trust you with the boat number of my registration 1985 Nauset @@@HP115@585  Engine designation from same source is 1984 BMW 1951 35 inboard diesel

There were two of those engine's used, mine was the bigger 3 cylinder D-50. I have the shop manual too. Call Nauset with those numbers and I'm sure they can tell you.

1985 model. 45hp That is the only number I have. I'll call Nauset on Monday, unless you already have.

To: David Deschamps
Cc: aaron@nausetmarine.com ...Can you tell me what the hull number is on my 1985 Pilot Harbor is? My registration # is @@@HP115@585.
Jack -   That is your legal hull # @@@ is our designation code ,hp stands for harbour pilot, 115 is the production number ,but they start at 101 so you are number 4 the @ is the month(xxx) and the 585 is an 1985 model year built in 1985, if it was 485 it would have been built in 84 I hope this explains things if not give me another shout

Located another Herreshoff Harbor Pilot ... Palm Coast FL.   Hull # 49 ....

cardinal joe, my pilot boat is a `74   it had a volvo 4cyl gas engine (25hp) in it that was froze up completely.  I installed a 3 cyl small diesel i think it is a 18 h.p. it has a white hull with red trim.  The boat is in Palm Coast FL.  the boat was bought over from New Port Beach, Calif. about 10 years ago. It appeared to have two or three owners before this sale to my friend in FL.   I now have 160 hours on the new engine. it needs alot of teak work which I don`t get to as i enjoy using it so much.  my computer skills are limited and i will have one of the grandkids help me post a pic next time they are over.  again thanks for your reply   best al

Adam , Adam L and Steve – I’m confused about the following data :

Nowalk & Williams Company   and  SQUADRON YACHTS,INC – were builders of these six models Hull’s – in the early 70’s thru early 80’s  both from Bristol, Rhode Island  !  So, in 1985  Nauset Marine Inc – who are boat builders from Cape Cod , Massachusetts. – started producing a Herreshoff Harbor Pilot – starting the Hull # at 101  and we know that Sky King (Hyannis MA at Nauset Marine ) was Hull # 115 ….  So, where did Nauset Marine – obtain the Herreshoff Harbor Pilot Mold/Hull to build these Pilot’s and did they Sell the Mould/Hull to "Horizon Cat".???

DATA Information so far obtained :

1)   - Herreshoff America July 19, 1970 – 18 ft Cat boat Hull for Nowak & Williams Model by A. S. deW H.
2)   - Nowak & Williams – started building the Pilot in 1974 – because the Herreshoff Harbor Pilot that is for sale on Yacht World – stated it is Hull # 2 (18' Herreshoff Harbor Pilot –year; 1974 , current price ; US $ 14,900 , Located In E. Dennis, MA
3)   - My Pilot title states - " SQU " which = SQUADRON YACHTS,INC – my Hull # TSPHP 06308 74 = Hull # 63 , 08 = August , 74 = Year !
4)   - Little Toot – My hull number is TSPHP0090374. So I guess that means hull #9.
5)   - Adam – stated ; two main builders were Squadron, and N&W. Horizon I believe was the last (and still owns the molds I think?). If I remember correctly Horizon changed it quite a bit for their "Horizon Cat".
6)   – Jack – do you know from your identification # on the hull … what # your pilot is ?

I do not. I'll trust you with the boat number of my registration 1985 Nauset @@@HP115@585  Engine designation from same source is 1984 BMW 1951 35 inboard diesel
7)   - Dave Deschamps – from Nauset Marine –has stated the following : Jack  (owner of Sky King)…. That is your legal hull # @@@ is our designation code ,hp stands for harbour pilot, 115 is the production number ,but they start at 101 so you are number 4 the @ is the month(@@@) and the 585 is an 1985 model year built in 1985, if it was 485 it would have been built in 84 I hope this explains .., things if not give me another shout Dave …

8)   – I think that Dave Deschamps – may have miss printed above the # 4 and it should be really # 14 … i.e. 101 -115 = 14 ?  Or did he mean that the Sky King was built on (@@@) month , 4 th day of 1985 ?
9)   ?????????????????  Cardinal Joe

Don't know for sure but my guess is When Squadron went under Nauset purchased the mould. Nauset builds/built a whole bunch of power boats of similar Novi/Downeast hulls (I always was partial to their 27). As far as I know they never built a sailing version (IE Scout, America, Eagle etc.). I heard the America mould was in Florida for years before Compac (Horizon Cat) got it - but I don't think anyone actually built any....

Joe - Nauset   purchased the Harbor Pilot, America, Eagle and Scout molds from Squadron Yachts  in the early 80's. Nauset built a handful of Pilots,America's and Downeasters(Eagles), the Scout never went into production. The America molds were later sold and the Scout, Downeaster and pilot molds were later scraped do to thier poor condition.Sky Kings' hull number started at 111, not 101 as I stated, My mistake, sorry never to happen again! Any other questions give me a shout I'll do my best to answer them.

Appreciated – me either, but the first three letters of the Hull # will tell if it was built by Nauset Marine …..

I can’t show these #‘s because Jack Maher owner of Sky King has an trusted them to me , so I will not post them …… but the first letter is an “ A “  rather than an “ T “ ……  Cardinal Joe
