I was having lunch at the Edgartown Yacht Club in Martha's Vineyard... when out of the corner of my eye i spoted a Herreshoff 18 Hull.... going by with a fisherman standing an the stern steering the boat with a outboard motor as a rudder .... that day i when looking for the Herreshoff 18 and found it working as a Scallop boat on the south side of Chappaquiddick ....

The next day i forgot my camera , and came upon the Herreshoff 18 - it turn out to be Herreshoff Scout 18 !

Had the 18 gal. steel fuel tank pressure tested - " Passed " , no leaks , so I remove it for a complete over haul . It has a fuel gauge on top of the tank , but impossible to see , since it is under the gunnel .

Did you take a look at the Youtube slide show?
Told you about all I know in my earlier posts. Do you have any questions I could try to answer? Have you ever seen a 18' like this? I have a folder with a little information from last two owners, but that is about it. I would love to know more myself.

No I have never seen a Herreshoff Harbor Pilot like ours !  Can you tell us about the last two owners , year , home port , etc .  How much are you looking to get for your Pilot ?

Used the Farrow paint removal system on the orginal 18 gal. fuel tank to remove the epoxy paint coating and found a large rubber tape that was applied to the tank at the factory , i guess to act as a rubber padding between the deck & the steel tank ?  When i removed the rubber tape , I discovered 3 small pin size holes . I shipped out the tank to be over hauled & repaired !

Replacing the old blower unit with a continous heavy duty JABSCO Blower unit - it is used to draw cooler outside air into the diesel engine cover box !

old unit - not connected

one of the holes is for the Blower & the other is a air intake vent for the engine compartment...
