Roger - what is your Budget ?

Well , i when home for a few days and the boys - 1) Barrier coated 2) used a hard modified-epoxy antifouling paint that provides excellent season long protection 3) Micron Extra .... combines the slime blocking power of Biolux™ with controlled solubility copolymer antifouling paint technology to provide long-lasting, full-spectrum defense against fouling organisms. The antifouling ingredients are chemically bonded into Micron Extra’s copolymer matrix, which is engineered to gradually wear away as the boat moves through the water, much like a bar of soap.

Subject: steering parts

Hi Joe

I got my Herrshoff Scout back from the painter and immediately took it to the trailer co. on their loaner trailer  3 weeks ago. It took them that long to get a trailer made for it. I go to pick it up last Sat. and they had scratched the hull in several places and now it has to go back to the painter again. Their expense but I can see an arguement brewing already between them and the painter. My luck.

Got a question for you.

The boat has a make shift tiller added to the top of the rudder head to get it over the transom an into the cockpit it works and its fine. But I would like to go back to as close as possible to original (wheel steering) equipt on this boat as I can. I found an old cable a red plastic cable with an inscription "MORSE E 304415-120IN 4427" one end is rusted off. I have the old wheel but nothing of the of the bulkhead mechanism to connect it to exists. Just an empty hole. The transom still has a small slot where some sort of short tiller must have been connected to the cable.

Any ideas on what I can do to find the parts to bring this back to close to original.

Thanks

Scott Silvia

Thanks for the pictures Joe.
Guess I'm going to have to get one made out of stainless by a welder. I doubt I can find a bronze one

More pic's of the motor being disassemable and either replaced with new parts or rebuilding the old parts .....

The Starter unit is orginial ( all copper wiring & steel casing )........ Alternator is about 20 years old - both of these units are going to be rebuild , because they are of superior quality , the new units today are Junk ......

Ordered 4 new Glow Plugs ,Water Pump Impeller & Hoses ......
